A performer, educator and researcher, Maria has been active in various areas from solo and ensemble vocal performances to private music teaching and musicological research.
Recipient of the Silver Medal from the School of Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Calgary, Canada and a number of prestigious scholarships, Maria holds a BMus in Vocal Performance and MA in Musicology and considers music as a life-long journey that brings her limitless inspiration.
A classically trained Soprano singer, Maria studied voice with Galina Razumova (Russia), Patricia Hrynkiw (Canada) and Marta Beňačková (Slovakia). She has a vast performance background with various ensembles including Calgary Philharmonic, Collegium Musicum and Early Music Voices, among others, having worked with conductors Roberto Minczuk, Timothy Shantz, Andy Brick, Ludwig Wicki, Ivars Taurins, Peter Dala and Rossen Milanov. She is currently a member of the Heinrich Schütz Ensemble Freising led by Zoltán Ambrus. As an independent solo artist, Maria had her Vocal Classic Series recitals organized in collaboration with the pianist Hyunmi Park and guest performers.
Over the last few years, Maria has been running her private music studio, nurturing students of all ages in their musical aspirations. As a musicologist, she is the author of an original music teaching method of Understanding Music Through the Concepts of Time and Space. A member of the Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER), Maria presents her latest findings at international conferences and encourages interest in music history through her lectures.
